Ethical question

Is it a bad lie to tell the movie telemarketer calling at 8:50 PM on a Friday night that you've gone TV free when you haven't? Or is it more akin to lying to the Nazis about the Jews you have hidden in your basement?

Any ethical reasoning which equates telemarketers with Nazis is fine by me. :)

It's probably at least as ethical as saying, "Don't you realize what time it is?" and then hand the phone to the youngest so they can babble at him...

Mmm...in RCIA my priest told me that a lie is when you withhold information from someone who is entitled to it. I don't think the telemarketer is entitled to know whether you're TV-free...so yeah, it's actually more like the Nazi scenario, believe it or not. ;-)
